A Site for active seniors

Welcome to Experimental-Aircraft's new Website!

Thanks to all of you who have visited over the past year. There haven't been many changes to the website over the past several months, but that will be changing.

Starting with this new website design, we are going to be taking ExAir to the next level! Our aviation link directory has always been a popular source of aviation specific website in the past, but now we have more than 10 times the numberBreathtaking view out the front of the cabin of an ultralight airplane of aviation related links for you to search! New categories will be added as needed so if you don't see what you are looking for, just drop us a line and we'll get it included for you.

Experimental Aircraft is owned and operated by pilots for pilots. Here I am in an Eipper Quicksilver II ultralight in the Rocky Mountains a few years ago. I am a licensed commercial airplane pilot with an instrument rating and a pilot since age 16. I taught ultralight flying in the Rocky Mountains in a two-seat Quicksilver.

Anytime you fly something made of fabric and wires, powered by a snowmobile engine, you're likely to have interesting stories to tell! We are seeking stories to add to our article database so if you've written any aviation related stories, please let us publish them for free for you! To the right is a picture taken by myself during a flight with one of the other local pilots. The view out the front is breathtaking as you can see!

We used to give scenic flights from the local airport back in those days. A very lightly used strip at 8000' agl, the Granby airport was used for instruction before the local flight park was built.

Sitting on the runway in Granby, Colorado Owing to the performance of the Quicksilver, I could take off on the small ramp when alone in the two-seat airplane, but we also used the runway as it was often unused.

Some of the most beautiful flying I've ever done was cruising 24 knots at 500 feet, skimming my toes into the tops of the morning surface layer of clouds that form in the mountain valleys during the early spring and fall. Sharing a thermal with an eagle at 9000' msl with the engine switched off or landing vertically on a brisk and breezy winters morning are all part of the fun memories of flying these little airplanes.
